This song came out of my first few weeks in Brooklyn,
while I was identifying very heavily with Paul Simon.

HEAR HERE

THE END OF ONE MORE DAY
Spring 1984, Brooklyn NY

Here comes the end of one more day...
I fight my way up from the crowded subway
The sky was light when I went underground
Looks like the weather's turned around
The sidewalk darkens where each drop of water falls
Out on the street I feel so small
Out in the distant night, the voice of summer calls
That doesn't hurry me at all

Here's two more bills I have to pay...
If Mom could see me now, she'd prob'ly say I'm wasting away
But does it matter if I'm eating right?
I'd rather drink in all the majesty of this night

I hear the thunder growlin' right outside my door
It's crashin' louder than it was before
It's flashin' lightnin' bolts across my floor
It's dashin' rain against my window pane
Looks like I made it home in time!

It's just the end of one more day...
Turn out the light and leave the empty hallway
I close my eyes and listen to the storm
I might be lonely, but I'm warm
I dream of greener things than New York City walls
Here, in my cocoon, I'm not so small
Out in the breathless night, the voice of summer calls
That doesn't worry me at all

There goes the end of one more day...
In the beginning of one more... May
