the hooks
When I announced my decision to leave Fisher Queen, reactions varied; our vocalist took it personally (oh well). Steve, our keyboard player, took his cue and found a home in the Curly "No Shoes" Jr. band. I committed to play our three remaining gigs, and this went a long way toward fostering an amicable split-up.
Richie, the bassist, had been my main contact during the weeks I was learning Blue Axis songs for the audition, and we bonded during our ups and downs with the Queen. When I confided that I thought a change would do us all some good, Richie asked if I might consider and moving on as The Hooks. That struck me as totally plausible, so it didn't take long for us to regroup once the dust had settled.

No arm-twisting was required when we asked drummer Kevin if he wanted to continue working together as a power blues trio. The "green banana in the bunch" - but a monster drummer nonetheless - he seems ready for anything. Our philosophy is simple: We play what makes us happy, and if people like it, we're all happy.
Too many rehearsals and too few gigs ultimately wore ous out, and in the late Spring of 2007, The Hooks threw in the proverbial towel.
