the shrieking eels   A newspaper classified ad led me to this band. The material was hard blues/R&B with a female singer. Etta James meets Al Green, with a gutsy guitar edge. It was a gal named Donna, her bassist/hubby, a drummer and me. We chose the name from a scene in the movie, The Princess Bride.

Most Memorable Gig: A gigantic biker festival, with 13 other bands, and rivers of mud, blood and beer. What else would you expect? I got a free T-shirt for my effort. The last Eels gig I recall was a New Year's Eve party. I called Donna a few days later to ask about our next rehearsal, and she informed me that the band had broken up! Hmmm... stranger than fiction.
